Formaldehyde-Free Insulation

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

With homeowners spending up to 90% of their time indoors, homeowners are becoming more concerned about energy costs, indoor air quality and “green” building techniques. Magnolia Homes of Georgia (MHG) is constantly monitoring our building products for new innovative products to meet the concerns of our home buyers.  Formaldehyde free products is just one of the measures MHG uses to ensure we are building safe and environmentally friendly homes.

As a home’s building envelope surrounding the house has become tighter with more attention to effective insulation techniques, there has also been an increase in the amount of air pollutants trapped inside the house. Though the presence of formaldehyde cannot be completely eliminated within the home, it can be minimized by the proper selection of the building materials such as particleboard, plywood and medium-density fiberboard (typically used in cabinetry, walls, and floor materials).  In an effort to reduce the amount of indoor pollutants, MHG is now using “formaldehyde-free” insulation in all of its homes. This is just another way that at MHG we continue to focus on you – the customer.
